Gerald "JERRY" Loomer Scholarship
Gerald Loomer has announced that, if elected, he will personally donate $1,000 every month he serves on the School Board. This fund is dedicated exclusively to current Sumter County teachers who are pursuing additional professional training.
The purpose of this initiative is to help educators cover tuition and program costs associated with:
Completing new certifications
Maintaining existing credentials
Expanding into additional subject areas
Advancing academic degrees through supplemental coursework
Gerald has expressed ongoing concern about teacher recruitment and retention. Statewide, Florida salary rankings continue to place educators near the bottom nationally. Districts across the state face increasing difficulty hiring teachers who are certified in the subjects they are expected to teach in the subject they are assigned. By offering direct financial support for professional development, this commitment aims to strengthen retention, support career growth, and help keep highly qualified educators in our classrooms.
